Vakaneri Tamils are being forced to convert to Islam

Vakaneri06Vakaneri Sri Siddhi Vinayagar Temple (Ganesh Temple) is well-known for its wish-granting capacity, is considered one of the oldest Vinayagar temples in the Batticaloa district.  In fresh attacks on Tamils and Hindus in Batticaloa District, unidentified mobs vandalised this temple on Saturday (17 December 2016) night.

People in Vakaneri village reported to journalists that a group of Muslim youths from Oddamavadi have been seen distributing flyers signifying Islam religion.  This group also visited the Sri Siddhi Vinayagar temple in Vakaneri and forced the priest to read the flyer which they were distributing.  This temple was later vandalised on the same day by 'unidentified' miscreants.

Meanwhile, an individual from Oddamavadi named Satto Mansoor has been making false documentary in Vakaneri area, with the blessing of Muslim politicians from the Eastern province, to claim the traditional lands of Tamils were once occupied by his grand-parents.  People in Vakaneri said to media that Satto Mansoor's claim was utter nonsense and should be ignored as a “conspiracy theory”.  They have also requested the Tamil people in Vakaneri and surrounding region to be vigilant and urged the Tamil parliamentarians to take action against Satto Mansoor.
